Radiesse FAQs

How does Radiesse compare to other fillers?

Fillers, such as Radiesse, are considered temporary, even though the results may last up to a year or two. Radiesse is the only dermal filler composed of calcium-based microspheres, which are comparable to hyaluronic acid injectable fillers due to the natural ability to stimulate collagen production. During your consultation for Radiesse New Orleans plastic surgeon Dr. Mizgala will discuss the various fillers and evaluate your facial tone, laxity, and volume levels to help you decide which filler may be the best choice for you.

What are the possible side effects of Radiesse?

Severe and/or abnormal side effects are rare with Radiesse. Immediately following treatment, patients may experience mild redness, bruising, numbness, and/or itching. These are temporary side effects that usually disappear within a day or two.

What other procedures can I combine with Radiesse?

Radiesse injections can be performed in combination with other injectable treatments to help you achieve your ideal results. Many patients combine dermal fillers, such as Radiesse, with BOTOX or other muscle relaxants to create an overall younger-looking appearance. Talk to Dr. Mizgala during your consultation to learn more about other procedures that can be combined with Radiesse.

Are Radiesse injections painful?

Typically, topical local anesthesia is applied to the injection area to help numb the injection sites. Local anesthetic can also be mixed with the Radiesse product to ensure comfort. Most patients only experience slight discomfort during the actual injections.

How much does Radiesse cost?

The cost of Radiesse is dependent on the number of syringes needed to achieve your desired outcome. During your consultation at our practice, we will discuss your expected results and determine the amount needed to achieve them.

Procedure Technique

Radiesse wrinkle injections take place in one of the treatment rooms at A Woman Plastic Surgeon in about 10 minutes after the consultation.

To start the procedure, the areas of injection will be cleaned and marked. Numbing medication will be applied to make the injections more comfortable. The dosage of Radiesse, determined at your personalized treatment planning session, will be prepared in an ultra-fine syringe. As soon as the procedure is done, an ice pack will be applied to help reduce swelling and bruising.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After your injection, New Orleans Radiesse patients may see mild redness, bruising, and swelling. This is common and should only last for about 5 – 10 days. This can easily be camouflaged with makeup.

Most patients see some results minutes after the treatment with better results developing over time. Your face should appear younger, softer, and lifted. Radiesse tends to last longer than some of the other fillers — about 1 – 2 years. You should talk to Dr. Mizgala during your consultation about when to schedule your next treatment to maintain your results.
