IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial)—Metairie & New Orleans, LA—

ABOUT IPL

If you are bothered by how your skin looks because of dark spots, sun damage, or fine lines, A Woman Plastic Surgeon can offer you a skin consultation at our Metairie, LA office to see if you could benefit from intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) with InMode Lumecca.

An IPL photofacial is a treatment that rejuvenates skin and removes hyperpigmentation and redness. IPL is not an invasive procedure, but it can be very effective and produce amazing results. Our licensed aestheticians will apply the Lumecca, which sends intense wavelengths of light that warm the skin just enough to set off the natural regeneration process. In the end, you should see a healthier complexion with a more even skin tone and decreased areas of pigmentation.

IPL New Orleans

IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR IPL

An IPL photofacial works deep within the layers of your skin to treat many complexion issues, especially sun spots and brown lesions, as well as excess redness, visible blood vessels, or generalized rosacea. The IPL can also treat age and brown spots on other areas of the body, such as the hands and legs. Ideal candidates for an IPL photofacial at A Woman Plastic Surgeon may have several skin issues, including sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), flushing, freckles, age and sun spots, or tiny blood vessels. Dr. Mizgala will assess your skin to see how you would benefit from an IPL photofacial during your private consultation.

IPL FAQs

How quick are the results from IPL?

Improvements can be seen after each treatment, and the best results can be seen a month after an IPL treatment is completed. It’s common for patients to respond differently to each treatment session. New Orleans IPL patients will see a gradual improvement of their pre-existing redness, blotchiness, sunspots, and age spots over time.

Do I need to prep for IPL?

Patients about to undergo an IPL laser treatment are usually asked to avoid self-tanners and excessive sun for 2 – 4 weeks prior to the procedure. You should discontinue the use of minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova 7 days before each treatment. You should also protect the treated areas with sunscreen between sessions.

How much does IPL cost?

Every patient case is unique, which means the cost of IPL will be dependent on your unique condition. A Woman Plastic Surgeon offers monthly specials and accepts many forms of payment. During your initial visit, we can determine your cost and determine the number of treatments recommended for optimal results. A single Lumecca treatment of the entire face and neck is priced at $300. Package prices are available, as well as seasonal specials.

Procedure Technique

An IPL photofacial is performed in the comfort of our Red Spa inside our Metairie, LA office. This comfortable photofacial takes about 20 – 30 minutes if performed alone. Sometimes, New Orleans IPL patients will combine photofacials with another procedure, such as Fractora, for more dramatic results. To start the IPL, our aesthetician will clean and dry the skin to be treated. The IPL photofacial is administered using a handheld device that passes over the skin while emitting pulses of laser energy. The procedure will produce some warmth with a bright light and is easily tolerated.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER IPL

There is no recovery period associated with an IPL photofacial treatment, but you will leave your appointment with your skin a little inflamed and red, there is little to no downtime. Brown spots may initially darken after absorbing the IPL energy, then flake off leaving clear skin underneath. This is known as chocolate-chipping. This will go away on its own and can be concealed with makeup.

A Woman Plastic Surgeon recommends patients use a post-procedure product on the skin to decrease irritation and speed healing. After several days, the irregularities that rested under the skin will come to the surface and then begin to flake off. It's critical to keep your skin protected from the sun at all times after an IPL treatment and to not pick at your skin while it heals. While you should see visible results after the first session, your skin will attain the best results after several IPL sessions. Our licensed aesthetician, recommends approximately 2 – 4 treatments scheduled a month apart at A Woman Plastic Surgeon.
