I'm Dr.Mascala's aesthetician, I do all her non-surgical procedures here. CoolSculpting is one of the procedures we do. It's something that we can offer our patients who do not want to look into a more surgical procedure. CoolSculpting is something that they can do that's a lot easier, less down-time, and non-invasive.

The ideal candidate is someone who just has stubborn areas of fat that diet and exercise can not get rid of. We treat the submental part of the neck, the fatty part of the back part of the arm, the full abdomen, full back, and inner-thigh.

I am about to have a CoolSculpting procedure. Even though I work out on a regular basis and I have pretty healthy diet, there's just this little area in my belly that's a little stubborn, and I can't seem to get rid of that little fat in that area. So I did a little research and talked to a few people and looked at some reviews, and decided this is the way for me to go. So I will be trying CoolSculpting.

Alright, Melody. This is going to be cold.

Okay.

This little gel is to protect, so protect the skin. Kind of feels like a cold baby wipe.

What CoolSculpting does, is puts the fat cells into what we call "apoptosis," which is cellular death. Over a 90 day period, the fat cells crystallize, break down, and you just pass them through your natural waste system.

You're going to feel a little bit of pressure as it draws your tissue in. You okay?

I'm okay.

So, as we can see, the applicator is drawing some tissue into the suction cup here. I'm going to... Are you okay?

Mm-hmm (affirmative).

We're going to hit the "go" button. Now we're freezing.

There's no pain involved at all. The patient can read a book, take a nap, do some work on their iPad, or just have some relaxation time. And they can leave here and go back to their daily routine. Whether they're going back to work, home, exercise, or the grocery store.

Okay, so how was it, ma'am?

It was good. Really good. Very relaxing, actually.

Great. So I'm going to go ahead and take the applicator off. So this is what we refer to in the CoolSculpting world as the "block of butter."

I think you'll have some tenderness in this area as I massage it. So, what we're doing now is we're breaking up the crystallized fat cells.
