Meet New Orleans Plastic Surgeon Dr. Cynthia Mizgala

My name is Cynthia Mizgala. I'm a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. And I love what I do. I graduated from the University of British Columbia in medical school, and won the Hamber Gold Metal for the top average in the entire medical course. So I was quite smart in school, and sort of directed towards a very academic career, which was my first choice. And in school I really loved learning, and I love physiology, and I found the body is just a miracle of science. The most incredible, fascinating thing to learn about. But when it became into practice, I found that a little bit boring. So, I really wanted to work with my hands and see immediate results, and immediate transformations.

And it just attracted me to the field of plastic surgery, where you can meet people every day and see your results of your work, and learn right at the time how to perfect your craft, and just see how it transforms people's lives. That's really what drives me. People ask me, what's your favorite surgery to do? And it really isn't about the procedure. It's about the person. And the relationship that we build together over a lifetime.
